Patoka Woman Sentenced To 21 Years In Prison After Causing Death Of Two Men

(GIBSON CO.) – A Gibson County Superior Court judge sentenced a Patoka woman to 21-years in prison Wednesday after driving drunk and causing the deaths of two men in a Gibson County crash on September 1, 2018.

Ashley Sanders pleaded guilty earlier this month to two felony counts of operating while intoxicated causing death.
In addition to the 21-years in prison, Sanders was ordered to serve three years on electronic home monitoring following her release from prison.
According to court records, 25-year-old Sanders admitted to driving drunk when she crashed into a vehicle that killed 20-year-old James Gasaway of Haubstadt and 19-year-old Trevor Watt of Princeton.
On September 1, Sanders was traveling north on US 41 north of Princeton when she didn’t see a vehicle slowing down in front of her to turn left. Sanders hit the vehicle at a high rate of speed resulting in the deaths of the two men.
Sanders was also injured.
