Indianapolis Firefighters Rescue Two From Log Pile In Icy Creek

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Authorities rescued two young people who were stranded on a pile of logs after falling into an in an icy creek at an Indianapolis-area park.


The Indianapolis Fire Department responded Monday to Southeastway Park and found a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man on the log pile in Buck Creek about 21 feet (6.4 meters) from land. They used a ladder to bridge the gap and brought over life vests and blankets.

The department says the two and another 18-year-old man were hiking when two attempted to cross the creek on icy logs. They fell and got out of the water after about a minute.
A hiker who happened upon them about 30 minutes later called 911.
