No School For Monroe Community School Corporation Students

(BLOOMINGTON) – A reminder that there is no school today for students in the Monroe County Community School Corporation in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. School will resume on Tuesday, January 22nd.

The public is invited to attend “This is America”: Civil Rights Then and Now Reflecting on Dr. King’s Dream today from Noon until 1:30 p.m. in the Indiana University School of Education Atrium.
This is a teen-centered event geared towards middle and high school aged youth and families. During this event, the youth will facilitate and engage in conversations using movie clips and music to explore current social issues in relation to Dr. King’s Dream. Youth will participate in thoughtful dialogue and also have an opportunity to write a letter to a relevant entity advocating for their issue. Pizza will be served.
Community Teach-Ins are FREE and open to the public. Due to the IUB Program Involving Children (PIC) policy, youth not accompanied by a parent/guardian must complete a release form.
The event is co-sponsored by the IU School of Education, Monroe County Community School Corporation, INSPIRE LLC, City of Bloomington, IU School of Informatics, and IU Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs.
