City Of Washington And INDOT Reach Agreement To Improve Business 50

(WASHINGTON) – Business 50 in Washington will now be repaired thanks to an agreement between the city and Indiana Department of Transportation


Mayor Joe Wellman says after three years of intense negotiations and discussions, and preliminary design and cost estimate an agreement has been reached and approved by the city council.
The project will cost an estimated $17.5 million with INDOT covering roughly $15 million of that. Mayor Wellman says the city will cover a little over $2 million.
Those funds will come from business and industries real estate taxes that were placed into the TIF Fund.
New blacktop and curbs will revitalize the aging roadway, and from State Street to East Third Street there will be a multi-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists.
