(FT WAYNE) – An off-road accident Saturday in Allen County left two people injured.
According to Indiana Conservation Officer James Price, the accident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Hosler Road, south of Viberg Road, in northeastern Ft. Wayne.
According to witnesses, 79-year-old Richard Clauss of Garrett was traveling 25-30 mph northwest on Hosler Road when he lost control of his 2000 Jeep SUV, causing it to slide sideways and into the path of an oncoming 2018 Polaris side-by-side off-road vehicle being driven by 29-year-old Evin Wallace, of Leo.
The front drivers-side corner of Wallace’s off-road vehicle struck the passenger side of Clauss’s SUV. Both vehicles then left the roadway and stopped in a ditch.
Wallace and his passenger, 28-year-old Katilyn Wallace, also of Leo, were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center by NE Allen Fire/EMS Ambulance.
Evin suffered head injuries from the crash and Katilyn sustained minor injuries. Both were admitted to PRMC.
Clauss was uninjured.
Alcohol was not a factor, and all involved wore seatbelts. Those on the off-road vehicle wore no helmets. No charges were filed as a result of this accident.
Price was assisted on scene by NE Allen Fire/EMS, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and Parker’s Recovery and Towing.
