Grandmother Shoots Grandson, Takes Her Own Life

(SEYMOUR) – A 16-year-old Seymour boy was critically injured Monday when police say his grandmother shot him then turned the gun on herself.

Seymour police officers were called to the home at 1705 South Walnut Street shortly after 5 p.m. Monday.
Multiple ambulances responded to the scene, as well as a medical helicopter.
Seymour Police Chief Bill Abbott says 68-year-old Wanda Huber shot her grandson one time, critically injuring him, before killing herself. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 16-year-old boy, who lived with Huber, was taken by medical helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Chief Abbott says officers did recover a handgun owned by Huber at the scene.
Chief Abbott is not releasing any information on the caliber of that weapon, the grandson’s name or nature of his injuries at this time.
“At this time we don’t know the why or how,” he added. “The case is an active investigation.”
