Bertha Mae Andis – Springville

Bertha Mae Andis, 95, of Springville, died at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born July 19, 1922 in Monroe Co., she was the daughter of Harley and Mary Jane (Davis) Blake. She married Curtis Andis on January 11, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1979. She was a homemaker and worked on their dairy farm.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Morrow and Barbara Perry and husband, Bill all of Springville, Teresa Turner and husband, Rick, of Williams; three sons, James Andis and David Andis and wife, Susan, all of Springville, Mike Andis, of Mitchell; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a
half-sister, Helen Southern, of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three daughters, Janice Carol Kern, Donna Meadows, and Linda Kay Andis (in infancy); three sisters, Norma Hacker, Geneva Andis and Ruth Anna Russell; three brothers, Lloyd, Hubert, and Kenneth Blake; a half-sister, Judy Nicols; a half-brother, Harley Eugene Blake; five grandchildren, Tonya Lee, Sonya Dee, Christopher Meadows, Paula Godsey, and Tony Kern; three sons-in-law, Herschel Kern, Jason Morrow, and Franklin Meadows.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Rick Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 20th and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, April 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Harold James “Jim” Abbott – Mitchell
May 27, 1945 – April 16, 2018
Harold James “Jim” Abbott, 72, of Mitchell, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018, at his residence.
Born May 27, 1945, in Olney, Illinois, he was the son of Harold and Norma (Franklin) Abbott. He married Carol Ann Ratliff December 20, 1967. He was employed at Hoffmans in Orleans from 1966 until the company moved to northern Illinois in 1970. He then went to work at Hubbard TV in Bedford until going to Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Detachment, as an electronic technician working in sonar bouys until retiring in 2015.
Jim graduated from Clay City High School, Illinois, in 1963 and electronics school in Louisville, Kentucky in 1966. He was a train enthusiast and traveled around the country with Carol photographing trains. Jim also enjoyed gardening. Jim was a member of Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14 F&A. M., a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Sahara Grotto Valley of Indianapolis. He attended Spice Valley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Abbott of Mitchell; brother, Steven (Carolyn) Abbott of Paris, Illinois; niece, Ashely Banks of Rogers, Arkansas; nephew, Westley Abbott of Rogers, Arkansas; niece, Jayma Jones of Mitchell; great nephew, Tyler Jones of Mitchell and other great nieces and nephews in Arkansas; sister in-law and brother-in- law, Ginny and Jim Eggers of Bedford; close family friends, David Asbery and Sue Baker of Mitchell
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center, with Pastor Val Foughty-Killion officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday and from 1 p.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home. Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14 F&A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
