Betty Louise Abel – Shoals

Betty Louise Abel, 93, of Shoals, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Loogootee Nursing Center.
She was born July 24, 1924 in Bedford to Leo and Grace (Hackler) Smithers. She married William Edward Able and he passed away May 25, 1966. She graduated in 1943 from Marshall Township (Needmore High School) in Lawrence County. She retired from Crane N.A.D. as an ordinance worker and previously worked at Loogootee Textile and was a member of the Shoals Holiness Church.
She is survived by a son Philip (Yvonne) Able, of Plano, Texas; granddaughter Tonja Renee Able, of Dallas, Texas; grandson Kyle (Nancy) Able, of Texas; great grandson Sterling Philip Abel and brother Glenn Smithers, of Indianapolis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers Harold Smithers, Opal Smithers and Thomas Smithers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals with Pastor Mark Hamaker officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and prior to the service on Monday.
