Robert L. “R.L.” Napier, 92, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at White River Lodge.
Born August 17, 1925, in East Lynn, West Virginia, he was the son of Robert Lee and Norma Carolina (Mills) Napier.
Robert retired as a Vocational Education Teacher in 1977 from Wayne High School, West Virginia. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army, having been stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church. Robert was a member of the West Virginia Coal Miners.
Surviving are three daughters, Rosemary (Greg) Stanley, Nicole (Gary) Napier-Kurdelski, and Robin (Adam) Bougher; two sons, Nick (Donna) Napier and Robert Nicholas Napier; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Lonnie Napier; three sisters, Elsie Dean, Julia Adkins, and Ruby Watts; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Oakey, Benton, Jay, Tim, and Shirley Napier, and five brothers in infancy; and sisters, Ella Napier, Floye Mills, Laura Staley, Pearl Marshall, Goldie Napier, Mary Lou Adkins, and Delsie Adkins.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes. A brief meditation and prayer will begin at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Mills Cemetery in Wayne, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Morris Funeral Home in Wayne, West Virginia. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home.
