Earl Goen, 91, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Garden Villa, Bedford.
Born August 1, 1926, in Sparksville, Indiana, he was the son of Henry and Carrie (Branaman) Goen.
He married Phyllis Collier on September 6, 1968; and she survives.
He was a graduate of Medora High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II. Earl retired from Crane. After retiring from Crane, he worked at the Rosemount Motel and IU Health Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; one son, Earl Bruce (Phyllis) Goen; two daughters, Patricia (Richard Sr.) Jakubczak, and Rebecca (Bret) Lubbers; one step-son, Thomas (Lori) Collier; four grandchildren, Dan Jakubczak, Richard Jakubczak, Jr., Steve Jakubczak, and Dianna Oconnor; four step-grandchildren, John, Travis, William, and Rebekah Collier; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, James (Bobby) Goen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Everett, Hershell, Charlie, Harold, Raymond, Cecil, and Homer; two sisters, Hazel Bush and Flossie Foddrill; and one step-son, Gary Collier.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Pastor Lyman Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, from 10 a.m.. until the service hour at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Bedford Baptist Temple.

Benjamin (Benny) Tarr – Bedford

Benjamin (Benny) Tarr, 63, of Bedford, died at 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.
Born October 31, 1954, in French Lick, IN, he was the son of Joe and Mildred (Lindsey) Tarr. He married Elaine Chase and she survives. Benny was owner of Elaine’s Puppies and had retired from U.S. Gypsum. Benny loved his dogs, I.U. basketball, music and family time.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Tarr, of Bedford; his mother, Mildred Tarr, of Mitchell; a daughter, Tara (Billy) Powell, of Newburgh; grandchildren, Joshua, Cloie, and Autumn Powell, all of Newburgh; siblings, Bob Tarr (Gloria), of Colorado Springs, CO, Lana Duncan (Tim), of Bloomington, Joe Tarr (Marilyn), and Gary Tarr (Teresa) both of Mitchell, Randy Tarr, of Bedford, Beverly Chastain (Todd), of Mitchell, Beth Ann Newlin (Bryan), of Orleans, and Sandy Eastridge (Travis), of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Terry and Donald Tarr; a sister, Gail England; a grandson, Jacob Powell.
The family would like to thank Theresa and Felicia, at Southern Care Hospice, I.U. Health Oncology Group, Dr. Shamloo, Dr. Koneru, Vanessa, at I.U. Health Bloomington, CVS, and Missy Craig from the Sweet Shoppe.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kenny Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 14th and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Sunday, October 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Joanna R. (Hawkins) Williams, 88, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Garden Villa, Bedford.
Born January 5, 1929, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Zelbert B. and Helen (Dalton) Hawkins.
She married Kenneth C. Williams, Jr. on April 5, 1948; and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2016.
She was a graduate of Shawswick High School. She was a homemaker. Joanna was a member of the 39th Street Christian Church.
Surviving are children, Peggy (Anthony) Wildman, of Shoals, Curtis (Butch) Williams and Zelbert Williams, both of Williams; daughter-in-law, Cyndy Williams; grandchildren, Lorie (Wildman) Canada (Mike Curry), Jeffery David (Kristi) Williams, and James Kurtis (Terri)Williams; great-grandchildren, Jordan (Jenn) Canada, Jacob Canada, Tyler Williams, Kelton Williams, Jim Curry, Kaylea Mulder, Ryan Mulder, Madison Burkhead, MacKenzie Allbright, and Logon Wagler; five great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Doug Kidwell, of Brownstown; sister-in-law, Gloria Hawkins, of Bedford, Carolyn Hawkins, of Bedford, Vivian Spencer, of Terre Haute, and Ruth Compton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; son, James R. Williams; brothers, George C. Hawkins, Zelbert Hawkins, and Mike Hawkins; sisters, Lois Hardwick and Mary Kidwell; and brother-in-law, Robert Hardwick.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Pastor Mike Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Union Cemetery or the 39th Street Christian Church.
