Brenda Kay Kinser – Bedford

Brenda Kay Kinser, 63, of Bedford, died at 11:50 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born June 4, 1954 in Anderson, IN, she was the daughter of Clester Butler and Anna (Large) Perry. She married Herman Dwight Kinser on June 21, 1975 and he died January 21, 1995. She was an assembly worker at GE for twenty-six years and a nurses’ aide at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for ten years. She was a member of I.B.E.W. Local #2249.
Survivors include two sons, Jeremy Kinser and his fiancé Audrey Mason, of Heltonville and Darin Kinser, of Bedford; a daughter, Stacey Brosamle and husband, Danny, of Bedford; grandchildren, Taylor Brosamle, Jasmine Schulz and husband, Chadrick, Grace Kinser, Zachary Brosamle, and Jacob Kinser; her mother, Anna Perry; a sister, Barbara Turner and husband, Robert, of Bloomington; a brother, Paul Butler and wife, Elizabeth Roberts, of Anderson, IN; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, her husband and her step-father, Lee Perry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Gilgal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Robert Gene Ritter Sr. – Bedford
Robert Gene Ritter Sr., 83,of Bedford, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, at his residence.
Born July 9, 1934, in Livonia, he was the son of Harrison and Florence Mae (Coulter) Ritter. He married Norma June Knight April 23, 1955.
Robert served 21 years in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1686. He loved bowling and playing basketball. Robert was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Norma June Ritter of Bedford; sons, Robert Gene (Diana) Ritter, Jr. of Montgomery, Donald Lee (Debra) Ritter of Mitchell; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Sarah and Jami; great grandchildren, Zakkery, Brayden, Deagen, Zane, Kimora, Atley, Emma, and Haeven; brothers, Ronald Ritter of Bedford, John Ritter of Ohio
His parents and brother, Larry Ritter, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, September 25, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date in Green Hill Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.

Mary Marie Brooking – Paoli

Mary Marie Brooking, 72, of Paoli, formerly of Bedford, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Paoli Health and Living Center, Paoli.
Born January 19, 1945, in Orange County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Elmer and Maudie Marie (Taylor) Morgan.
She married David Brooking; and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2012.
Mary worked at numerous Nursing Homes and Hospitals as a CNA.
Surviving are sons, Steve (Angie) Brooking, Jeff (Rita) Brooking, and Michael (Cindy) Brooking; daughter, Melissa (Kent Fender) Wiseman; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Anthony, in infancy.
Funeral services will be at Noon on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Jay Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Orleans. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral chapel.

Esther “Betty” Guthrie Wilcox – Bedford

Esther “Betty” Guthrie Wilcox, 98, of Bedford, entered into Heaven at 4:55 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, surrounded by her family, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born April 13, 1919 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Trues and Hazel (McKnight) Kimbley. Betty married Clyde Guthrie on July 30, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1968. She married Oren Hamer Wilcox on October 10, 1971 and he preceded her in death in 1996. Betty was a graduate of Tunnelton High School with the class of 1936. She was employed at various retail stores in Bedford including Alden’s and the Well’s Shoppe. Betty was a member of the White River Baptist Church and loved spending time outdoors on her farm, gardening, and being with her children and grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Clydene Guthrie Flinn and husband, Larry; a son, Philip Guthrie (Jewel Breckenridge); a sister, Martha Childers; a sister-in- law, Lillian Kimbley; grandchildren, Kathy (Darak) Blackburn, Karen Evans and fiancé, Paul Bucher, Jason (Crystal) Flinn, Jennifer (Nick) Bilskie, Jeannette Guthrie, Janine Martin, Brooke (Chad) Carroll; great grandchildren, Chase (Brooke), Chandler, and Camryn Blackburn, Colsen and Avarie Evans, Isaiah, Jacob, and Sophia Flinn, Maddie Pence, Rowen and Wyatt Bilskie, Javan Cobb, Jaylob Guthrie, Jacinda, Nadine, Hope, and Makenna Martin, Eric and Alexis Carroll; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, siblings, John Kimbley, Walter Kimbley and Jesse Kimbley (in infancy).
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 25th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Nathan Sundt officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until 4 p.m. pm on Sunday, September 24th and from Noon until the hour of service on Monday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the White River Baptist Cemetery.

James H. “Jim” Guthrie – Bedford

James H. “Jim” Guthrie, 89, of Bedford, died at 5:42 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Garden Villa.
Born June 19, 1928, in Leesville, he was the son of William Raymond and Mollie (Murphin) Guthrie. He married Mary E. Sherfick on September 6, 1950 and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2001. He retired in 1993 as a toolmaker at E & M Tool Co. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two sons, James L. Guthrie and wife, Beth, of Mitchell, John R. Guthrie and wife, Lois, of Pinhook; a daughter, Judy S. Couch, of Scottsburg; one sister, Clara Deaton, of Leesville; two brothers, George Guthrie, of Columbus, and Stanley “Stan” Guthrie, of Bedford; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Myrtle Arnold; four brothers, Joseph, Johnny, William Robert, and Arthur “Art” Guthrie; a sister, Gladys Guthrie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 25th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Church Cemetery in Buddha where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
