Melvin Dillon – Bedford
December 9, 1920 – May 5, 2017
Melvin Dillon, 96, of Bedford, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
Born December 9, 1920, in Mechanicsburg, IL, he was the son of Dave and Margaret (Dobson) Dillon. He married Velma Elizabeth Harris in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1982. He worked for the Lawrence County Highway Department.
Survivors include his daughters, Tammy Lee of Louisville, KY, Crystal Avery of Ohio; grandchildren, Bryan, Wyatt, Benjamin Lee IV, Jade Lee, Nichelle Lee, and Jodeja Townes; great-grandchildren, Adriyan Lee-Malone, Amber Lee, Jordon and Jaden Lee; brother, Russell Dillon of St. George, Georgia; sister, Pearl Dillon of Springfield, Illinois
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, LuBelle Prior, Ethel O’Brien, Edith Henderson, Virginia Mahanihan, David Jr (Jack) Dillon, and two sisters at childbirth.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 8, at 1 p.m. in Mitchell Cemetery.

Carolyn Joyce Tanksley – Mitchell
August 21, 1935 – May 3, 2017
Carolyn Joyce Tanksley, 81, of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 21, 1935, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Douglas Granville and Bernice Olive (Green) Clouse. She married Roger Harold Tanksley October 7, 1952. Carolyn was Mitchell High School cafeteria manager for 30 years. She was a memberof Woodville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Harold Tanksley of Mitchell; children, Rogetta Sinclair of Mitchell, Michael (Marcia) Tanksley of Columbus, Tammy (Scott) Evers of Mitchell, Tim (Michelle) Tanksley of Mitchell; 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; sister, Wanda Gerkin of Washington; brother, Terry Clouse of Mitchell
Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Glenn Hamer officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
