Nelva Denise Sergent – Mitchell

Nelva Denise Sergent , 64, of Mitchell, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017, at her home following an extended illness.
Born June 1, 1952, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Lloyd C. and Rose Ella (King) Middleton. She married Vernon Darrell Sergent September 4, 1970, and he preceded her in death November 11, 2007. Nelva was a homemaker and a 1970 graduate of Mitchell High School.
Survivors include her children, Pamela Lynn (David) Perez of Henderson, Kentucky, Sandra Lynn (Randall) Lessig of Mitchell, Caroline Dawn (Jeremiah) Herald of Mitchell; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and two more due later this year; siblings, Rhonda (Middleton) Baugh of Mitchell, Malcolm Middleton of Huron, Kevin Middleton of Huron, Paul (Dale) Middleton of Bellevue, Nebraska, Gregory (Betsy) Middleton of Bedford
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation was chosen and burial will be at a later date in Port William Cemetery.

Frank S. Bundy – Bedford

Frank S. Bundy, 70, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at his residence.
Born April 27, 1946, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Robert P. and J. Maxine (Luttrell) Bundy. He married Penny Hughes on September 4, 1965; and she survives. Frank retired from General Motors as a layout inspector. He was a graduate of Heltonville High School. He went in the Marine Corps in 1965 and spent 14 months and seven days in Vietnam. Frank attended Work of God Church. He had a love for horses and enjoyed woodworking and playing guitar.
Surviving are his wife, Penny; one son, Shannon (Shelley) Bundy, of Heltonville; one daughter, Tiffany (Billy) Grogan, of Heltonville; grandchildren, Colten Bundy, Kallie Bundy, Elijah Grogan, Isaac Grogan, and Avery Grogan, all of Heltonville; one sister, Sandra (Ted) Kline, Bedford; several nieces and nephews; and one aunt, Jenny Flinn, of Bedford
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister at birth; and one nephew.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m.. on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Gilgal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m.. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Harry Benjamin Demaree – Bedford

Harry B. “Benny” Demaree, 72, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his residence.
Born October 2, 1943, in Bedford, he was the son of Eli and Anna (Kern) Demaree. He married Janet Dalton on November 22, 1967; and she survives. He was a graduate of Bedford High School with the Class of 1961. He was a member of Pinhook Christian Church. Harry worked as a tool and die maker at GM Powertrain, where he retired in 1979. He was a member of SCAVI, South Central Association of Visually Impaired and UAW Local #440. Harry was a Veteran of the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Rota, Spain; serving on the USS Forrestal and USS Enterprise; he was also a member of the Blind Veterans Association. He was a Promise Keeper.
Surviving are his wife, Janet; one son, Jonathan (Jennifer) Demaree, of Bedford; two grandchildren, Chris J. Demaree and Hailey Nichole Demaree; two step-grandchidlren, Jamie (John) Sharp and Janelle Benham; one step-great-great grandchild, Kayson Benham; and one brother, Alan Demaree, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Jeffrey and Brent Demaree; and one brother, Dennis McCann.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at the Pinhook Christian Church on Thursday, April 20, 2017 with Ted Stucker officiating. Burial will be in Pinhook Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes.

Shirley Jane Kindred – Bedford

Shirley Jane (Browning) Kindred, 83, of Bedford, passed away at 8:48 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born November 2, 1933, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Chromer and Georgia (Turney) Browning. She married Robert M. Kindred on August 14, 1953; and he survives. She graduated from Bedford High School, Class of 1951. Shirley worked many secretarial positions. She was a member of the Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene. She was deeply devoted to her church and God. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley Loved camping and was a member of the Good Sam’s Camping Club.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; one son, Mark Kindred; one daughter, Melinda (Brad) Scott; grandchildren, Aaron (Rachel) Kindred, Shelby (Chris) Easterday, and Sydney Henderson; great grandchildren, Garrett, Jayla, Oliver, Penelope, Eli, and Treyton; one sister, Gladys Chastain; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Kindred; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes with Pastor Ken Bushey officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

David Tincher – Bedford

David A. Tincher, 76, of Bedford, died on Saturday, April 15, 2017, St. Vincent Dunn Hospital, Bedford.
Born January 12, 1941 in Lawrence County, Indiana, he was the son of Jesse L. and Gladys (Hobson) Tincher. He married Kay Jackson on February 26, 1965 and she survives. He was retired from General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #440.
He is survived by wife, Kay; daughter, Pamela Brown; grandson, Devin Brown; three sisters, Joan (Larry) Brown, Connie (Bill) Branaman and Jeanie (Jesse) Morris; several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by Parents; son-in-law, Paul R. “P.R.” Brown; brothers, Jerry Tincher, Dean Tincher, Von Tincher and Leo in infancy; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Jeff Thayer officiating. Entombment will be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Charles Watson Pearson – Bedford

Charles Watson Pearson, 92, of Bedford, died at 6:30 A.M. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, IN.
Born March 13, 1925, in Bedford, he was he son of Carl Edra Pearson and Alice E. (Ray) Pearson. He married Patricia Benckart August 25, 1947; she died February 24, 2014. Watson was a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Chemistry, graduating Magna Cum Laude; he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War 2 and was Chief Metallurgist at GM Powertrain, Bedford, retiring in 1986. Watson was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1166, Bedford; he was also a member of the American Legion, Gillen Post #33, Bedford.
Surviving are two sons, Michael W. (Nikki) Pearson, Eliot ME, and Stephen C. (Kathy) Pearson, Beavercreek, OH; one daughter, Patty Anne (Jim) Fossey, Lottsburg, VA; four grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie) Pearson, Pasco, WA, Hayden Pearson, Eliot, ME, Kyle (Katie) Pearson, Brooklyn, NY, and Kory (fiancé Danielle Amason) Pearson, Montgomery, AL; four step-grandchildren, Jamie (Tim) Sampey, Chicago, IL, Karin (Eric) Warden, Downers Grove, IL, Ryan Fossey, Phoenix, AZ, Britt (Steve Wells) Fossey, Kailua, HI; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl E. Pearson, Dunnellon, FL and John R. (Cathy) Pearson, Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia; and one sister, Anne Benckart.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at St. Vincent de Paul Cathoic Church, Bedford, with Fr. Rick Eldred and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, Bedford.
Military Rites will be accorded at the grave by members of American Legion , Gillen Post #33, Bedford. Friends may call from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Ferguson-Lee Chapel of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Bedford. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus.

Shirley Ann Patton – Bedford

Shirley Ann Patton, 81, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Indiana University Health Hospice House, Bloomington.
Born March 23, 1936, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Owen “Ott” and Addie (Mosley) Marshall. She married Paul R. Patton; and he preceded her in death in July of 1987. She was of the Christian faith. Shirley was a graduate of Shawswick High School. She was a homemaker. Shirley absolutely loved her grandkids.
Surviving are four sons, Bobby (Susan) Spinks, Kevin Spinks, Tim (Chris) Spinks, and Scott (Polly) Patton; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at River’s Edge Fellowship Church, 2900 35th Street, Bedford, with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Patton Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. at River’s Edge Fellowship Church.
