Joyce M. Sams, of Pakersburg, WV. passed away February 19, 2017, at Camden Clark Medical Center, in Parkersburg, WV.
She was the loving wife of John E. Sams Sr.. They shared 55 wonderful years together. She loved John and loved her puppies. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of others. Born in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of the late Cecil C. and Josephine C. (Taylor) Hughes.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children John E. Sams Jr., Larry D. Sams, Corrine S. Sams, Cathy J. (Bradley) Craig, Carla M. (Scott) Rees; grandchildren Ashley Sams, Jimmy Davila, Eric Davila, Evan (Amy) Aldretti, Jennifer Marshall, Tyler (Corey) Marshall, Jaine (Jason) Follstad, Amber Craig, AJ (Kylie) Shelton, Brock Monroe, Austin Monroe, David (Melinda) Sams, Elizabeth Sams, Marissa (Jeremiah) Haynes, Brendan Rees, and Cecily Rees; several great and great great grandchildren; her brother Dennis (Joyce) Hughes; sister-in- law Merle Hughes and brother-in- law James (Tita) Sams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers David, Jerry and Thomas Hughes.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary, in Bedford, with Pastor David Sams officiating. Burial will follow at the Patton Hill Cemetery in Oolitic, IN. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Julius Bognar Jr. – Bedford

Julius Bognar, Jr., 50, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born January 22, 1967, in Spring Valley, California, he was the son of Julius and Elizabeth Bognar, Sr. Julius was a proud American and supporter of the United States military and an honorary Marine.
He had previously been employed at Pizza Hut and Barnes and Noble in San Diego, California, and Jeff’s Shoes in Bedford. He attended LARC from 2002-2016 where he enjoyed his friends and dances. He participated in Special Olympics in San Diego, California, and was on the 2006 Indiana Special Olympics Champion basketball team. Julius loved music and karaoke, especially Elvis, Toby Keith, and Willie Nelson. He enjoyed attending car shows, dancing, and singing karaoke at the Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club, where he was an honorary member. Julius was also a member of Dive Christian Church.
Survivors include his adoptive parents, Lorrie and Roger Chaney of Bedford, brother, Joel House of Bedford, sister, Sara (George) Malagan and family of Bloomington
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, at Dive Christian Church with Brother Joe McAdams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the church.
Casketbearers: Joel House, George Malagan, Eric Bennett, Steve Blair, Artie Grimaldo, and Mike Hawkins.

Patricia Maxine McAlister, 91, of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
