Betty J. Roach – Springville
November 15, 1930 – February 14, 2017
Betty J. Roach, 86, of Springville, died at 8:55 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born November 15, 1930 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of William and Mary (McCall) Chastain. She married Oren Roach on July 8, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2008. She retired as a utility operator supervisor for M. Fine & Sons after thirty-six years and was a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ. Betty enjoyed her friends, working out at Healthy Balance where she was involved in the Silver Sneakers program. She enjoyed reading, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, David Roach, of Springville and Donald Roach, of Avoca. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Ray and Fay Chastain; three sisters, Juanita French, Dorothy Lloyd and Roberta Lessig; a niece, Linda Lessig.
At Betty’s request, no funeral service is planned. Burial will be in Springville Christian Cemetery.

Janice A. Chastain – Springfield, Virginia
Janice A. Chastain, 88, of Springfield, VA, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Wirtz, Virginia.
Born August 3, 1928, she was the daughter of Barney and Ruth (Whitted) Alexander. Janice graduated from Mitchell High School in 1946 and spent her career as a secretary in the Pentagon.
Survivors include her daughter, Muriel Ruth (David) Mutispaugh; son, Stan “J.” Chastain; grandchildren, Theresa (Chris) Jenkins, and Jason Chastain; and great grandson, Jacob Jenkins.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, February 17, at Mitchell Cemetery with Pastor Brenda Ludwig officiating.
Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
