Nellie Marie Young, 75, of Mitchell, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016, at Indiana University Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born January 23, 1941, in Wayne County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Edward and Myra (Neal) Richardson. She married Foxey C. Young and he preceded her in death November 29, 1990. Nellie retired from Dana Corporation and was a member of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She loved camping and being with friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Jerry K. (Bonita) Young of Mitchell, Kay (Randy) Wood of Lafayette, Tyce Young of Shoals, Joe David (Susan) Young of Mitchell, Lisha Young of Shoals, Pam (Bruce) Ray of Bedford; significant other, Don Chasteen of Mitchell; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, John Richardson of Oaktown; sister, Virginia Johnston of Plant City, Florida
Her parents; and siblings, Effie Waters, Billy Richardson, and Alma Foster, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. till 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service
Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Betty Whitted – Avoca

Betty Whitted, 80, of Avoca, went home to be with the Lord at 10:15 am on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Westview Nursing and Rehab. in Bedford.
Born June 12, 1936, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Thomas Gilbert and Frances Ford. She married David Whitted on August 19, 1954 and he survives. She retired as an estimator from Otis Elevator and was a member of the Crossroads Church.
Survivors include her husband, David, of Avoca; a daughter, Denise Whitted, of Avoca; a daughter-in- law, Linda; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer and Jamie; five great grandchildren, Layla, Lucy, Sammy, Ellie and Mallie; a brother, Charles Ford, of Florida; a sister, Eunice Younger, of Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Donald Jeffery and Michael David Whitted; a great granddaughter, Lillian M.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7th at Crossroads Community Church with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Private committal will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6th at Crossroads Community Church and from 10 a,m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, December 7th at Crossroads Community Church.

Vicky Gayle “Susie” Lancaster, 67, formerly of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born May 3, 1949, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Irene (McNeely) Dorsett.
Vicky graduated from Mitchell High School in 1967, and was self-employed. She resided in Indio, California for many years. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, playing cards, and being with friends and family. Vicky was a member and past president of the American Legion Post No. 250 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her great niece, whom she raised, Kristiahah Earl of Colorado; siblings, Robert Dorsett of Texas, Mike (Sue) Dorsett of Bedford; nieces and nephews, Debbie Dorsett, Randy Dorsett, Phillip Dorsett, Lorna Dorsett, David Case, Tina Case Smith, Dana Case, Michelle Wade, Melinda Davis, Michael Dorsett, Keely Johnson Armstrong, Eric Dorsett, Adam Dorsett, Heather Dorsett Hughes, Paula Dorsett Taylor, Pamela Dorsett, Kristy Mann, Kent Mann, Stephanie Lyon, and Stacey Earl
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Lou (Bill) Case, William R. “Buss” (Pauline) Dorsett, Beverly Mann Earl, Ricky D. Dorsett, and an infant brother, Rufus Gilbert, Jr.; and niece, Kelly Mann.
Cremation was chosen and the burial and celebration of life will be in the spring.
