Shirley Mae Mundy – Bedford

Shirley Mae Mundy, 79, of Bedford, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at her residence.
Born November 29, 1936, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Joe and Maude (Hughes) Bruner.
She married Harold Mundy on October 8, 1953; he died January 23, 1988.
Shirley worked at Dunn Hospital as a unit clerk and at the Waffle House; she worked at Dana Industries of Mitchell, from where she retired; Shirley attended the Fayetteville Baptist Church; was very active in the Senior Citizens Club of Mitchell; she was a member of the Bedford and Mitchell American Legions and a member of the Mitchell V.F. W. She loved camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are one son, Harold “Butch” Mundy, Bedford and two daughters, Debra (Samuel) Malott, Bedford and Pamela (Ronnie) Willis, Orleans; eight grandchildren, Zachary Mundy, Jacob Mundy, Jennifer (Eric) Flinn, Jamais (Jason) Nottger, Justen Malott, Dedra Terrell, Jeremy (Julita) Willis, and Joshua (Kendria) Willis; seventeen great grandchildren; and one brother, James Bruner, Brandon, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold.
Funeral service will be on Friday, September 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford, with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will be in Huron Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be considered to the Mitchell Senior Citizens Club.
