Mary L. Girdley – Owensburg
April 9, 1925 – August 16, 2016
Mary L. Girdley, 91, of Owensburg, died at 6:25 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born April 9, 1925 in Greene Co., she was the daughter of John C. and Nina C. (Mitchell) Parsley. She married Frank E. Girdley on August 31, 1946 and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1997. She worked for RCA in Bloomington and later for NWSC Crane. She was a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Marsha Girdley, of Owensburg, Rita Key and husband, Marshall, of Bedford, Sherri Bartlett and husband, Jerry, of Heltonville; thirteen grandchildren, Ian U. Girdley and Uriah C. Girdley, both of Owensburg, Marcy Starr and husband, Mark, and Caleb Key and wife, Karyn, all of Bedford, Jon Key and wife, Jennifer, of Solsberry, Keesha Presser and husband, Chuck, Lucus Bartlett and wife, Mickey, and Hannah Hudson and husband, Chris, all of Bedford, Amy Kines and husband, Brian, of Owensburg, Brian Caswell and wife, Deanna, of Springville, Travis Caswell and wife, Jennifer, of Owensburg, Caitlyn Bohall and husband, Nathan, of Bloomington, Justin Caswell and wife, Jakki, of Springville; twenty-three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; a son-in- law, Dale Caswell of Springville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Brenda Girdley and Tammi Caswell; a son, Mark Girdley (in infancy); two brothers, Lloyd and Leo Parsley; three sisters, Coy Hatfield, Izota Fields and Berniece Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 19th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with her nephews, Clovis and Dennis Parsley officiating. Burial will follow in Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 18th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Shirley Henderson -Clarksville
August 17, 1933 – August 16, 2016
Shirley Henderson, 82, of Clarksville, formerly of Bedford, died at 8:45 am on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville.
Born August 17, 1933 in Avoca, she was the daughter of William L. and Betty Doll (Lamb) Houpt. She married John “Jack” Henderson on June 29, 1957. She was a bookkeeper for Combs Distributing in Bedford. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Bedford Women’s Dept. Club and Tri Kappa Sorority.
Survivors include a son John Henderson and wife, Rebekah, of Brownsburg, IN; two daughters, Sara Kelley and husband, Rick, of Jeffersonville, IN and Jane Rubietta and husband, Rich, of Park Ridge, IL; five grandchildren, Ruthie Hall and husband, Matt, Zak Rubietta, Collin Hayes and wife, Kristyn, Heather Henderson and fiancé, Alex Moyer, and Josh Rubietta; two great grandchildren, Abby and Esther Hall.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William “Bud” Houpt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 19th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Lee Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday, August 19th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
