Richard Carl McGowen – Springville
July 13, 1946 – February 18, 2016
Richard Carl McGowen, 69, of Springville, died at 10 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 13, 1946 in Unionville, IN, he was the son of Frank and Mary (Zink) McGowen. He married Elham “Lula” Tadros on July 4, 1974 and she survives. He had worked at RCA for twenty-seven years and retired as a dispatcher for Hall Brothers Trucking after fifteen years. He attended Cornerstone Worship Center and loved basketball, football, racing and American history.
Survivors include his wife, Lula, of Springville; two sons, Travis McGowen and wife, Dana, of New Albany, Tyler McGowen and wife, Beth, of Jeffersonville; five grandchildren, Madelyn Grace, Samuel Lane, Miriam Nagia, Silas Tyler and Benjamin Grey (expected July 5th).
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Katherine McGowen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Greg Harvey and Pastor Gereld Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Patricia A. Garofola-Byers – Bedford
April 16, 1931 – February 17, 2016
Patricia A. Garofola-Byers, 84, of Bedford, died at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at I.U. Health, Bedford.
Born April 16, 1931, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Clifford and Ruby (Allen) Spicer. She married Phillipp Byers on July 3, 2004 and he survives. She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the Class of 1949 and had worked for Hooks Drugs and later CVS Drugstore, Bedford, from where she retired. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford.
Surviving are her husband, Phillipp Byers, Bedford; one daughter, Toni(Barry) Hunsaker, Bedford; one son, Clifford Garofola, Bedford; four grandchildren, Susan Garofola, Denver, CO, Michael Garofola, Portland, OR, Devin (Drew) Lemke, Bedford and Taylor Melenchuk, Royal Oak, MI; and one great granddaughter, Sadie Camargo.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; her first husband, Frank Garofola, and her brother, Buddy Spicer.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 22, 2016, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford, with Fr. Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Bedford. Friends may call on Sunday, 1 p.m. till 6 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. The Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
