Edgar Thomas (Tom) Jones – Springville
October 20, 1941- January 17, 2016
Edgar was born October 20, 1941, in Springville. He passed away January 17, 2016 after battling cancer for two and one half years.
Tom was born to Oscar E. and Helen G. (Flynn) Jones. He attended Springville Pentecostal Mission Church. He married Susie M. (Boston) Jones on July 1, 1961 in Monticello, Kentucky. Tom worked as a truck driver for Jefferson Trucking out of Shoals, Indiana. He retired in 2000. He earned an award for driving 1,000,000 miles, accident free which he was really proud of receiving. He loved fishing, camping, mushroom hunting and cutting wood.
Surviving is his wife, Susie, of fifty-four years; a daughter, Vicki Martindale of Bloomington, a son, Thomas Dean Jones of Springville; four grandchildren, T.J. Martindale of Chicago, IL, Cinnamon Martindale of Bloomington, IN, Nicholas Douglas and Nathan Douglas of Bloomington, IN; five great grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua of Chicago, IL, Malik, Shaylynn and Skylar of Bloomington, IN; three brothers, Lonnie (Barbara) Jones of Bedford, Jimmie (Susie) Jones of Bartlettsville, and Rickie (Mona) Jones of Kirksville; three sisters-in-law, Mary Keith of Monticello, KY, Irene Key of Indianapolis, IN and Dorothy Collins of Orlando, FL; a brother-in-law, J.R. Boston (Carol) of Monticello, KY; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eddie Jones; two sisters-in-law, Kay (Conner) Jones and Judy (Crum) Jones; one niece and three nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 21st in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Wendell Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Lowder Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20th and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, January 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Marjorie (Scharf) Anderson – Brazil

Marjorie (Scharf) Anderson, 89, of Brazil, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016 at her home.
Marge was born June 9, 1926 in Brazil, the daughter of the late Will and Nora Mae (Siegelin) Scharf. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1944. Marge married the love of her life Wayne Robert Anderson on April 24, 1948. He preceded her in passing on March 10, 2002 after almost 54 years of marriage. Marge had worked as a secretary and administrative assistant in various locations including the First Presbyterian Church in Brazil, Bedford Junior High School, and the Bedford Medical Center and Foundation. She served as an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Brazil and Bedford and was a former member of the Brazil and Bedford Red Hat Society. Marge was an active volunteer throughout her retirement. She enjoyed listening to the Brazil Concert Band on Sunday evenings, traveling, reading, painting, making porcelain dolls, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Short; siblings, Robert Scharf, Mazo Scharf Modesitt, Carl Scharf, Edna Scharf Hart, and Pauline Scharf Wyndham Wise.
She is survived by her children, Gary Anderson (Katherine) of Chelmsford, MA, Linda Anderson Short Yuhas (Michael) of Byron Center, MI; grandchildren, Brad Short, Brian Anderson; great-grandchildren, Kayla Short, Thomas Short, Jake Short; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Services will be Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Lawson-Miller Chapel in Brazil with Pastor Gary Scroggins officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Another visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Bedford First Presbyterian Church, 1504 L Street, Bedford, IN 47421, from 12pm until 1pm. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford.
