Leonard Edward “Butch” Dalton – Bedford

Leonard Edward “Butch” Dalton, 67, of Bedford, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2015, at his residence.
Born January 20, 1948, In Lawrence Co., he was the son of Louis and Hazel (Sipes) Dalton. He was a retired iron worker, and a member of Iron Workers Local #22, Indianapolis, for 24 years.
Surviving are one son, Layne Edward Dalton and one daughter, Shelly Bernard, both of Fort Smith, AR; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mona Tallent, Bedford and Linda Fisher, Campbellsburg; and one brother, Larry Dalton, Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Snyder.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford.
Burial will occur in Hilltop Cemetery, at a later date.

Mandie Deanne Prince – Heltonville
July 16, 1978 – October 25, 2015
Mandie D. Prince, 37, of Heltonville, (Chapel Hill) passed away at her residence on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from a tragic house fire along with her dog, Xena and cat, Alley.
Born July 16, 1978 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Tim and Dana Prince. She was a dental assistant. Mandie was a fun loving and caring person who enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved her pets and enjoyed riding motorcycles. She was very strong, energetic and independent.
Mandie leaves behind one daughter, Brecken McKenzie Prince, of Heltonville; her parents, Tim and Dana Prince of Heltonville; one sister, Brandi Chase and husband, Ryan, of Bedford; nieces and nephews, Naomi, Luke, Owen and Evie; her maternal grandmother, Phyllis Prince; her paternal grandmother, Lois Prince; friends, Brittany Bay, June Dixon, Christina Finley, Brooke Martin and many more.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Winfred “Buck” Prince and Floyd Prince and her dog, Mollie.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from Noon until the hour of service on Thursday, October 29th at the Bartlettsville Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 29th at the Bartlettsville Christian Church with Tim Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartlettsville Christian Cemetery.

John D. Smith Sr. – Huron
January 17, 1939 – October 24, 2015
John D. Smith Sr., of Huron, passed away at IU Health Hospital Bedford on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 4 p.m.
Born on January 17, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Everett and Edna (Sims) Smith. He married Linda Hoyt in 1982 in Indianapolis and she survives.
John retired as an LMS mechanic for the United States Postal Service in Indianapolis. He attended Indianapolis Schools and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.
John was an avid collector of trains and was a ham radio operator.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two sons, John Smith Jr., of Paoli and James D. Smith, of Bloomington; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the mother of his children Linda Sturgeon.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Burial will follow in the Port Williams Cemetery. American Legion Post #61 will accord military graveside rites.

Herman “Whitey” Nichols – Bedford
January 12, 1927 – October 26, 2015
Herman “Whitey” Nichols, 88, of Bedford, died Monday, October 26, 2015 at his residence.
Born January 12, 1927 in Lansing, MI, he was the son of William R. and Nellie (Blood) Nichols. He married Amelia Sears and she preceded him in death. He has two brothers, Harold and Lyle Nichols. He had worked at Bedford Electric.
Survivors include a daughter, Tami Davis of Bedford.

William A. Head, 89, of Mitchell, died Saturday at Franklin Meadows in Franklin.

Linda K. Hester- Bedford
August 8, 1951 – October 24, 2015
Linda K. Hester, 64, of Bedford, died at 4:19 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
She was born August 8, 1951 in Bedford. She married James S. Hester and he survives. She was a child care provider and a member of the Crossroads Community Church. She was a very kind and friendly person to everyone she was around. She was very devoted to her husband and family.
Survivors include her husband, James, of Bedford; a son, John Tarrants and wife, Karen, of Seymour; two daughters, Crystal Tarrants of Greenwood, IN and Bethaney Leahy of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathy Totsie of Bedford and Pauline Buchtman of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Thursday, October 29th at the Crossroads Community Church with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, October 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 9 am until the hour of service on Thursday, October 29th at the Crossroads Community Church. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Crossroads Community Church.
