Jerry Wayne Starr – Bedford
August 4, 1945 – September 9, 2015
Jerry Wayne Starr, 70, of Bedford, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born August 4, 1945 in Bedford, he was the son of Jessie N. and Oneda (Hawkins) Starr. He was a graduate of Heltonville High School with the class of 1964 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked at Elliott Stone Mill. He was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church and enjoyed playing basketball, NASCAR and western movies. He loved family time and being together during the holidays. He married Donna Walls and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, April Clark and husband, John and Dustie Starr, all of Bedford; two sons, Jerome Edward Starr and wife, Crystal, of Oolitic and Jerry Wayne Brooking of Tunnelton; one step-son, Dougie Brock; ten grandchildren, Juleah, Jacob and Wyatt Clark, Lacy, Aaron, Adam, Heather, Celina, Cheyenne and Jerome, Jr. Starr; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Starr and wife, Susie, Jeffrey Elkins and wife, Faye and John Elkins all of Bedford; two sisters, Rita Tipton and husband, Robert of Bedford and Betty Slone and husband, Sheldon, of Mitchell; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Glen Hamer and Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartlettsville Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 14th and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday, September 15th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Marilyn Guess – Orleans
June 26, 1937 – September 11, 2015
Marilyn Guess, 78, of Orleans, died at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at her residence.
Born June 26, 1937 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Orda and Goldie (Bault) Hackney. She married Allen L. Guess and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and attended the Bedford Baptist Temple.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Church of Mitchell and Debbie Beasley of North Carolina; two sons, Allen Dean Guess and Mar Allen Guess both of Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four children, Allen Guess, Jim & Martha Guess (twins) and Judy Guess.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 14th at Lowder Cemetery with Pastor Lyman Taylor officiating Burial will follow. No visitation is scheduled.

Michael K. “Mike” Anderson – Bedford
January 17, 1956 – September 10, 2015
Michael K. “Mike” Anderson, 59, of Bedford, died on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 1:40 a.m. at the IU Health Hospice House, Bloomington, IN.
Born January 17, 1956 in Evanston, Illinois, he was the son of Jesse Anderson and Carol Jane (Ferguson) Anderson.
He married Karen Cochran in 1977; and she survives.
He was a graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1974, and attended Oakland City College and Ivy Tech. He had worked in maintenance at various businesses, including George’s Gateway, Bedford College Center, and most recently the Hauck House. He was a member of the Bedford First Christian Church, where he served as Deacon, Elder and was a choir member. He was Past President of the Bedford Lions Club, member of Bedford Boat and Sportsman Club, and very active in the Student Exchange Program.
Surviving are his wife, Karen of Bedford; three sons, Joel Mills, Chad Mills and Cory (Chrissy) Mills; four granddaughters, Mariah, Cailey, Katie and Haley; 20 exchange student daughters; one brother, Louis (Darlene) Anderson of Arkansas; three sisters, Sally Findley, Mary Ellen Caswell and her partner, Barb Antle of Bloomington, and Sherry Brock of Texas; half-brother, Jesse Anderson of Wisconsin and half-sister, Sandra Berthene of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Alan Cloar officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Timothy Joe Romine – Terre Haute
December 11, 1967 – September 6, 2015
Timothy Joe Romine, 47, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015.
Born December 11, 1967, in Linton, he was the son of Ronald and Joe (Goble) Romine. He was an apartment manager and a graduate of Bedford High School. Timothy was a U. S. Marine veteran.
Survivors include his sons, Ricky Vaught, Bedford, Kyle Romine, Bedford, Tanner Romine, Bedford, Landon Romine, Bedford, siblings, Kenny Romine, Bedford, Rhonda Tuggle, Bloomington, Paul Romine, Bedford
His mother, Jo Russell, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 11, at Mitchell Cemetery with Brother Jim Russell officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Thelma Louise (Allen) Cobb – Oolitic
December 14, 1912 – September 9, 2015
Thelma Louise (Allen) Cobb, 102, of Oolitic, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 with her devoted family around her.
Born December 14, 1912 in Indianapolis, IN, she was the daughter of David P. and Alice E. (Brown) Allen. She married Walter Adam Cobb on September 15, 1933 and he preceded her in death in December 1996. She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School with the class of 1931. She was the last living member of her class. She was a wife, mother, homemaker and nurse to her husband for the last 24 years of his life due to a cerebral hemorrhage. She was a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church for 80 years, serving as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She was also a youth leader and served a number of years as a deaconess. She could rock the floor playing her favorite piano pieces and she loved to do the Charleston.
She truly loved her family beginning with her only son, Jack D. Cobb (Glenda); two grandsons, Jackie D. Cobb, II, of Indianapolis and Walter A. Cobb of Lawrence Co.; four granddaughters, Teresa L. (Carl) Miller and Becky L. (Kevin) Spoonmore both of Oolitic Rhonda E. (Ray) Shock of Avoca, Tiffany J. Spriggs of Springville; seventeen great grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Richardson, Carl (Mindy) Miller, II, Justin (Emily) Spoonmore, Jayme (Andrew) Davis, Jared and Jacey Spoonmore, Chad (Amy) Shock, Ray III (Amy) Shock, Amanda (Doug) Nayback, Joseph and Leigha Cobb, Ashay, Alyssa, Alaina and Allison Cobb, Shane and Megan Spriggs; twenty-three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, Trudy L. Cobb; one great grandson, Adam Lee Cobb; one brother, David G. (Fannie) Allen; three sisters, Edith O. (Ben) Quackenbush, Stella (Stanley) Quackenbush and Helen (David) Wright
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 12th at the Oolitic Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, September 12th at the Oolitic Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Jackie D. Cobb, II, Walter Ashley Cobb, Carl D. Miller, II, Justin N. Spoonmore, Chad R. Shock, Jared A. Spoonmore, Joseph Cobb and Shane Spriggs.
