Mattie “Frances” Gambrell – Bedford
Mattie “Frances” Gambrell, 86, of Bedford, Indiana, crossed over to be with her Lord at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford.
The devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born April 1, 1928, in Sayre, Oklahoma; the daughter of Gus and Ida Carlile. Frances married J. L. “Jack” Gambrell on April 18, 1948. During their 42 years together, Jack and Frances made their homes in Oklahoma, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana and Mississippi where Jack preceded her in death on July 4, 1991. During her lifetime, Frances worked as a telephone operator, a homemaker and a partner in Jack’s career. Frances was a member of the Donica Church of God in Bedford. Both Frances and Jack were founding members of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church, in Vincennes, Indiana.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Elaine Gambrell, Bedford, Indiana and one son, Michael Ray (Cassie) Gambrell, Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Myriah (Shonn) Gambrell-Glenn, Downers Grove, Illinois and Mycah (Jeff) Gambrell-Ermak, Kirkland, Washington; and  three great-grandchildren, Ainsley Glenn, Carter Glenn and Jackson Glenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Jewel Armbruster; and one brother, Gus Carlile, Jr.
There will be no funeral services or visitation at this time. Graveside services and burial will occur at a later date in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorials be made to the Ridgecrest Southern Baptist Church, 1820 McKinley Avenue, Vincennes, Indiana, 47591. Donations should be made directly to the church in memory of Frances Gambrell. Funds are designated to the children’s crisis ministry outreach.
Services are under the direction of Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford.
