Oweetah L. Chasteen – Bedford
Oweetah L. Chasteen, 89, of Bedford, passed away at 9:25 pm on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at I.U. Health Bedford.
Born January 25, 1925 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Thomas Southern and Jesse Louise Southern. She married Charles Edgar Chasteen on June 5, 1939 and he preceded her in death. She retired from R.C.A. where she was a production worker. She was a member of the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Survivors include a son, Eddie Chasteen and his wife Leetta, of Bedford; two grandchildren, Andy Chasteen of Bedford, and Amy Nikirk and her husband Chris, of Bedford; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Chasteen, Allen Chasteen, Madison Nikirk, Casen Nikirk; three sisters, Naomi Perry of Harrodsburg, Norma Blackwell of Bedford, and Beverly Schutte of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Linda Diane; three brothers, Wayne Southern, Robert Southern, and Thomas Jr. Southern.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Judah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Donations may be made to the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene Missionary Fund.

Rachel Charlene Garrison – Orleans
Rachel Charlene Garrison, 78, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014, at her residence.
Born July 6, 1936, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Charley and Edna (Brown) Cook. She married Marvin Joe Garrison June 28, 1958. Rachel was a homemaker and had been an Avon sales lady for 25 years. She was an active and strong Christian member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church for over 50 years. She graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1954.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Garrison, Orleans; children, Sheila (Charles) Gallino, Bronson, Florida, Jan (Carlton) Kirton, Bronson, Florida, Angie (Richard) McIlvaine, Riverview, Florida and Bedford, Kevin (Sheila) Garrison, Mitchell, Keith Garrison, Tucson, Arizona, David (Malissa) Garrison, Yorktown; 14 grandchildren;15 great grandchildren; brother, Harry (Joyce) Cook, Bedford; sister, Virginia (Larry) Hill, Shelbyville; brother in law, Carl Ratliff, Bedford; sister in law, Bonnie Cook, Mitchell
Her parents; brother, Henry Cook; sister, Ruth Ratliff; sister-in-law, Lovie Cook, and grandson, Joe McIntosh, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, at the Mitchell Wesleyan Church with Reverend Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Dixon Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church.
