Marie Stipp – Bedford
Marie Stipp, 94, of Bedford, died at 10:12 pm on Monday, October 6, 2014 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Douglas “Doug” B. Mapes – Bedford
Douglas “Doug” B. Mapes, 59, of Bedford, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on
Saturday October 4, 2014 at IU Health Bedford.
He was born in Lawrence County on April 30, 1955 to Bill and Rhea Dawn (Anderson) Mapes. Doug was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1973 and was a retired Truck Driver. He married Julie Ann (Jones) Davis on February 14, 2003 in Bedford and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Mapes, of Bedford; his father, Bill Mapes, of Bedford; two children, Alecia Perry, of Bedford and Andrew Girdley, of
Bedford; brother, Scott (Mary) Mapes, of Orleans; three grandsons, Braden
Perry, Levi Perry and Riley Girdley, all of Bedford. He loved them so very much and they kept him going; Uncle Dean Anderson of Bedford; Uncle
Jack (Hazel) Mapes, of Kokomo; nephew Jason Floyd, of Orleans; cousins
Libby Wilcox, of Bedford, Rickie Dean Anderson, of Gosport, Cindy Mapes,
of Kokomo, John Mapes, of Kokomo, and Jeff Mapes, of Oregon
He was preceded in death by his mother.

Doug loved the outdoors and life in general; he fought his battle with cancer
for six years and was such a trooper, never complained. He also loved his two schnauzers.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made at Bedford Federal Savings Bank
to help with Doug’s medical expenses
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at a later date.

David A. Chastain – Bedford
David A. Chastain, 31, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday October 4,
2014 at his residence.
He was born on October 5, 1982 in Bedford to Jeff and Taryn (Tarr) Chastain. He was a graduate of BNL High School in 2001, he married Amber Kern on July 22, 2005 in Bloomington and she survives. David was an US Navy Veteran serving from 2001-2007, and was a senior engineering technician at SAIC in Bedford.
Surviving are his wife, Amber Chastain of Bedford; two children, Lucas Chastain and Peyton Chastain, both of Bedford; his parents, Jeff and Taryn Chastain, of Bedford; two brothers, Matt Chastain of Bedford and Jason (Melanie) Chastain, of Bedford; four nieces and nephews, Logan, Garrett,
and Lillie Chastain and Emily Chastain, all of Bedford; his grandparents, Gladys Chastain, of Bedford and Bud and Kay Tarr, of Bedford; aunts and
uncles, Steve Chastain, of Bedford, Debbie (Terry Stevens) Chestnut, of
Bedford, Amy (Bill) Sowders, of Bedford, Tracy (Kevin) Yeary, of Bedford,
and Amy Jo Tarr of Bedford; mother-in-law, Shelley (Jack) Kenworthy, of
Bedford; father-in-law, Ray (Susie) Kern, of Bedford; sister-in-law, Kelley

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Curtis Chastain
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. at
the First Church of God, at 3131 16th Street. Friends may call on Tuesday October 7, 2014 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home, and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. at the First Church of God. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford, with Military rites by
Bedford American Legion Gillen Post #33.

Jackie L. Turner – Bedford
Jackie L. Turner, 84, of Bedford, died at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born June 29, 1930 in Bedford, he was the son of Fred and Bessie Turner. He married Delores L. Young on September 26, 1969 and she survives. He was a professional basketball player for the New York Knicks. He had worked as an Industrial Engineer for Corttron in Orleans and was a past Director for the Bedford Parks Department. He retired from LARC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Gillen Post #33 American Legion, N.B.A. Retired Players Assoc. and a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Lorry, of Bedford; a brother, Bill Turner of Russell, KY; a niece, Donna Barber of Russell, KY; his step-mother, Laverne Turner of Tavares, FL.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 9th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of the Gillen Post #33 American Legion and D.A.V. Chapter 2. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, October 9th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
