Michael D. Burton – Orleans
Michael D. Burton, 77 of Orleans, passed away at his residence on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
He was born on March 23, 1937 to Kenneth and Gayle (Pickens) Burton.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Laura Joan (Kirkman) Burton of Orleans; two sons, Kenneth David Burton of West Baden, IN and Michael Paul Burton (Lana) of Orleans; two daughters, Laura Lynn Kirk (Terry) of Mitchell, IN and Beth Ann Cooper (Gary) of Orleans, IN; one sister, Patricia Mathers (James) of Orleans, IN; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a retired Vice President of Reynolds, Inc. in Orleans, IN. He spent his career helping cities and towns around the country by constructing water treatment facilities to meet their citizens needs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. As he loved his community, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Town of Orleans if desired.
A private graveside service will be held at Fairview cemetery.

Rita Kay Morris – Bedford
Rita Kay Morris, 77, of Bedford, died at 5:05 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014, at Stonebridge Health Campus, Bedford.
Born September 3, 1937, in Oolitic, IN, she was the daughter of Joe Magnus and Mary (Presto) Magnus.
She married John G. Morris on July 2, 1960; he died July 9, 2001.
She was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone (later AT&T) as a telephone operator, retiring in 1989. For the past 20 years, Rita was co-owner of the travel group Happy Travelers, along with her good friend Linda Fitzpatrick. Through this endeavor, she was able to travel extensively, both here and abroad; meet many new and interesting people and make a great number of new friends. She truly enjoyed the trips with her “Happy Travelers Family.” She was a graduate of Oolitic High School, Class of 1955; was a very active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford, including the Altar Society and Senior Club; was a member of the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus and the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving are her daughter, Karen (Scott) Weaver, Bedford; her son, John G. Morris, Bedford; grandson, Joseph Weaver, Bedford; granddaughter, Kristen (Freddie) Held, Williams; great grandchildren, Bella, Kendall and Mackenzie Held; brother-in-law, Phil Concannon, Bedford; sister-in-law Wilma Magnus, Crane, IN; nephews, Phillip (Cheryl) Concannon and Danny Magnus; and nieces, Marianna (Wayne)Teague and Vickie (Gary) Spinks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Rose Concannon and her brother, Pasquale Magnus
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2014, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bedford, with Fr. Rick Eldred and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be considered to St. Vincent de Paul Altar Society.

Thomas Ralph Kuhbander Jr. – Mitchell
Thomas Ralph Kuhbander, Jr., 72, of Mitchell, passed away at 7:18 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born March 20, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Thomas Ralph and Marie (Lyons) Kuhbander, Sr. He married Constance Beatrice “Connie” Welles December 3, 1988. He retired from General Motors and was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Kuhbander, Mitchell; stepsons, Jack Vincent Clevenger, Arizona; Jeremy Clevenger, Mitchell; Joshua Clevenger, Mitchell; Jacob Clevenger, Mitchell; 4 grandchildren
His parents preceded him in death.
Cremation was chosen and burial will be at a later date in Dayton, Ohio.

Dan Dalton – Bedford
Dan Dalton, 89, of Bedford, died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at his residence.
Born April 25, 1925, he was the son of William Dalton and Nanna Lou (Ritchison) Owens. He married Beverly Concannon and she preceded him in death. He retired from the Bedford Fire Department and was a driver for Schwerman Trucking. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II. He was a member of N.R.A. and Teamsters Union Local 135.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Corwin and husband, Rick, of Bedford, Leanne Eisele and husband, Jack, of Orleans and Karen Dalton and fiancé, Mike, of Oregon; four step-children, Catherine Concannon and Laura Stroud and husband, Scott, all of Bedford, James Concannon and wife, Gia, of Florida and Christian Black and husband, Mitchell, of Franklin, IN; a sister, Kathleen East.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly; a son, Danny Dalton; two brothers, Wayne and Clarence Dalton.
At Dan’s request, cremation was chosen. No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Jesse Pace – Bedford
Jesse Pace, 85, of Bedford, died at 12:20 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born October 18, 1928 in Bedford, he was the son of Homer and Bessie M. (Stigall) Pace. He married Naomi Stafford on January 13, 1951 and she survives. He was a retired stonemason and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi, of Bedford; two daughters, Sharon Taylor and husband, Larry, of Orleans and Vickie Kemple of Bedford; three sons, Jesse D. Pace of Monroe City, IN, Bruce Pace of Leesville, IN and John Pace and wife, Sue, of Longview, MN; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Frona Taylor and husband, Herman, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Roger Siedl and a sister-in-law, Donna Pace, both of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Darrell Lee (in infancy); a sister, Margaret Siedl and two brothers, Leo (Shorty) Pace and Charles Pace.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3rd at the First Apostolic Church on Warren Street in Mitchell with Pastor Robert Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion and D.A.V. Chapter 2. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 2nd at the First Apostolic Church in Mitchell.

Scott C. McGregor – Bedford
Scott C. McGregor, 62, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday September 28, 2014 at 5 a.m. at his residence.
He was born on July 4, 1952 in Lawrence County to Donald “Don” McGregor and Evelyn M. (Root) McGregor. He was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1970, he worked as a cable installer and siding installer in St. Louis. Scott was an avid pool player and loved everyone, was a member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsman’s Club.
Surviving are two sons, Jeff “Jeffy” Lytton and Jason Smith both of Bedford,;mother, Evelyn McGregor of Bedford; brother, Schel (Susan) McGregor of Bedford; two sisters, Sheree (Mike) Padgett of Linton, and Shawn Liford of Lawrence County; three grandchildren, Brandon Lytton, Ashley Lytton, and Sidney Smith all of Bedford; several nieces and nephews
Scott was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Ralph and Betty McGregor and Robert “Bob” and Minnie Root
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday October 2, 2014 at Cresthaven Funeral. Friends may call on Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home
