Irla O. Burnette – Springville
Irla O. Burnette, 95, died at 4:45 pm Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born May 22, 1919 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Marcus and Nanny Bell (Kirk) Strauser. She married James Matthew Burnette on October 26, 1939 and he survives. She was a factory worker for Sarkes-Tarizan and RCA and a homemaker. She was a member of the Springville Trinity Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her husband, James, of Springville; two sons, Raymond Doyle Burnette and Donald M. Burnette and wife, Yvonne Lou, all of Springville; eight grandchildren, James, Robert, Michael, Scott, Jerry Randall, DeLinda Allexander and Theresa Allen; fourteen great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Leona Sue Burnette; two sisters, Alice Dobson and Marjorie Strauser; a brother, Wayne Strauser and two great grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Wendell Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 15th and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday, September 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Vicky Elaine (Grissom) King – Huron

Vicky Elaine (Grissom) King, 65, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born May 27, 1949, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Herbert and Barbara “Sissy” Grissom Pruett. She married Warren King May 22, 1971.Vicky was a secretary and bookkeeper at South Lawrence Utilities and retired in 2012 with 28 years of service.
Survivors includehusband, Warren King, Huron; children, Troy (Sara) King, Bedford, Shelly (Jason) Knear, Corydon; grandchildren, Maverick Todd, Logen Causey, Dakota King, Mersadies King, Makarah McFarlan, Makayla Elaine Michelle King, Dalton, Ryshauna, Dylan, Eryck, Garrett Knear; great grandson, Bradley Todd; siblings, Steve (Patsy) Grissom, Mitchell, Mark (Patty) Grissom, Bedford, Deborah “Annie” (Melvin) Buechler, Bedford, Paula Grissom, Bedford
Her parents and brother, David Grissom, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 14, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Matt Moore officiating. Burial will be in Port William Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 12:30 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Terry A. Smith – Bedford
Terry A. Smith, 64, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born February 16, 1950 in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Fredrick M. and Mavis J. (Humphries) Smith.
He married Betty Burress on August 9, 1980; and she survives.
He was a graduate of Shawswick High School, Class of 1968. He received his B.S. Degree from Oakland City College and his Masters from Indiana State University. He was a retired school teacher at Bedford North Lawrence, Vocational School and Shawswick Middle School. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. He ran the scoreboard for 25 years at BNL Basketball Games. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 30 years, and a past member of the ISTA. He enjoyed golfing, history, cars, and aviation.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, of Bedford; two sisters, Janice (Bill) Wilson, of Bloomington, and Carolyn (James) McGowen, of Bloomington; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be on Monday, September 15, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Glenn Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Louisville. Friends may call on Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Lawrence Community Foundation or the White River Humane Society.

Pauline Saliba – Mitchell

Pauline Saliba, 86, of Mitchell passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.
Born June 24, 1928, in Marion, Illinois, she was the daughter of Webb and Emma (Sims) Burleson. She married Tammer Saliba June 15, 1948, and he preceded her in death, September 9, 2007.
Pauline was a homemaker, and served as an evangelistic singer throughout Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. She was a member of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene, First United Methodist Church in Herrin, Illinois, and the Red Hat Society.
Surviving: sons, Larry Dean (Susan Joyce) Saliba of Mitchell, David Lee (Marcia) Saliba of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Stephen Paul (Ginger) Saliba of Peotone, Illinois; grandchildren, Christopher Saliba, Jimmy (April) Saliba, David Lee (Aura) Saliba II, M.D., Hardy (Tina) Saliba, Eddie Saliba, John Saliba, Andrew Saliba; great grandchildren, Lily Faith Saliba, Kinsey Hope Saliba, Emmy Grace Saliba, Malaya Rayne Saliba, Layton Taylor Saliba, and David Alexander Saliba; brother, William (Jean) Burleson of Beecher, Illinois
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 13, at the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Matt Moore officiating. Graveside service and burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, Illinois, at 10 a.m. Monday, September 15. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.
