Betty Lee Evers – Bedford
Betty Lee Evers, 83, of Bedford, passed away at 8:16 am on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the home of her son in Mitchell.
Born February 1, 1931 in Franklin, IN, she was the daughter of James and Raida (Howard) Verhines. She married Lester Joseph Evers on February 5, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of Life Tabernacle in Springville.
Survivors include a son, Scott Evers and wife, Tammy of Mitchell; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Bernadine Henderson of Williams; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter (in infancy), a son, Danny Joe Evers in 1982; five brothers, Jack, Paul, Bob, Linus and Charlie Verhines and a sister, Dorothy Sanders.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 29th at Life Tabernacle in Springville with Pastor Doug Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Williams, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 28th at the Day and Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to I.U. Bloomington Hospice.

Frank W. Kern – Williams
Frank W. Kern, 89, of Williams, passed away at Johnson Christian Village at 8:00 am on Thursday, April 24, 2014.
Born in Lawrence Co. on October 3, 1924 to Hovie and Lula Mae Baker Kern. He married June Vaught on October 18, 1947 and she preceded him in death on June 7, 1987. He attended Fayetteville School. Frank was an Army veteran of WW II where he received the Purple Heart. In his earlier years of employment, he worked in the family owned sawmill before going to work at Crane. There at Crane he worked handling explosives and operating various equipment. He enjoyed fishing with his wife on the river, gardening and working around his property and his granddaughter, Skylar
He is survived by his four children, Connie Kern in the home, Gary Kern of Williams, Tony Kern of Mitchell, Debra (Robin) Cooper of Orleans; one granddaughter, Skylar Cooper of Salem; a sister, Mary ( Robert) Stevens; a brother, Merle Kern of Versailes and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, William Von, Glen, Herschel, Tommy and Wendell; sisters, Pauline Brown, Mable Mitchell and Olive Wilcoxen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 28th Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Jeff Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Christian Church Cemetery where he will be layed to rest along side his beloved wife, June. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion and D.A.V. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 27th and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday, April 28th at the DAy & Carter Mortuary.
