James E. Hickman Jr. – Norman
James E. Hickman, Jr., 66, of Norman, IN died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at I.U. Health, Indianapolis.
Born October 1, 1947 in Sullivan, he was the son of James E. Hickman, Sr. and Lillian Mae (Criss) Hickman. He married Barbara A. Burris on December 4, 1965 in Coalmont (Clay Co.) IN; she died November 19, 2012. He was a tree trimmer, retired; a member of Fairview Community Church, Bedford, and a member of the Monon Historical-Technical Society.
Surviving are four sons, Paul (Donna) Hickman, Vallonia, IN; James Hickman, Brazil, IN; Mike Hickman, Norman, IN; and Dale Hickman, Norman, IN; one daughter, Linda St. John, Spencer, IN; eleven grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and one brother, Tom (Mary) Hickman, Freetown, IN; one step-sister, Debbie Page, W. Virginia; and one step-brother, Wesley McCarthy, W. Virginia.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Lynch.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Friday, October 4, 2013, at Fairview Community Church,
Bedford with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday, at Fairview Cemetery, Linton, IN. Friends may call on Friday, 10 a.m. until Noon at the Fairview Community Church, Bedford.

Robert C. Mitchell – Oolitic
Robert C. Mitchell, 90, of Oolitic, died Wednesday, October 02, 2013 at his residence.
Born March 15, 1923 in Oolitic, he was the son of Cecil and Clysta (Brown) Mitchell. He married Lois Smith on January 18, 1946 and she died on June 24, 1985. He later married Lorene Baker on February 15, 1987 and she survives. He retired from Oolitic Water Works and NWSC Crane. He was a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ and attended Fairview Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene of Oolitic; four children, Gary Mitchell and wife, Ronda of Springville, Brenda Lambrecht and husband, Jerry of Bedford, Terry Mitchell of Oolitic and Diana Edwards and husband, Anthony of Oolitic; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, step-daughters, Toni Hedge and husband, Gary of Mitchell, Janie Hill and husband, Dave of Bedford; a step-son, Pat Baker and wife, Joann of Texas; eight step-grandchilden, eight step-great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mills of Oolitic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Betty Johnson and Lucille Pritchett and a step-son, Mike Baker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, October 4th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Bros. Richard Holt and Anthony Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Michael Lewis Brown – Orleans
Michael Lewis Brown, 61, of Orleans, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, in Stroud, Oklahoma.
Born January 17, 1952, in Bedford, he was the son of John Lewis and Ruth Evelyn (Blackburn) Brown. Mike was a farmer and a 1970 graduate of Mitchell High School. He attended Georgia Southern University and was a member of the Lion and Lamb Ministries. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Surviving: children, Stephanie (Steven) Sipes, Mitchell, Bradley (Nikki) Brown, Orleans, Brent (Emily) Brown, Leipsic; mother, Ruth Emmert, Bedford; grandchildren, Alexis Brown, Makenzy Brown, Nate Brown, Nash Brown; brother, Greg Brown, Mitchell
His father, John Lewis Brown, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Pat Sinnott officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Leah Ruth Beyers – Evansville
Leah Ruth Beyers, 84, of Evansville, passed away at 5:38 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at North Park Nursing Center, where she was visiting for a few days.
Born August 17, 1929, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Leslie Lee and Ruth Alene (Schreibner) Beyers.
Leah was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed going to church, listening to music, and had many friends, including her friends at Evansville ARC.
Surviving: brothers, Daniel Lee (Diana) Beyers, Bedford, Joseph Leslie (Brenda) Beyers, Bedford; sisters, Della Sue Wildman, Louisville, Kentucky, Mae Blossom (Danny) Weddle, Evansville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles
Her parents, and twin sisters, Hope Beyers, and Faith Beyers, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 4, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Bro. Danny Weddle officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial service will be scheduled later in Evansville.

Edward O. Phillips – Williams
Edward O. Phillips, 48, of Williams, passed away at his residence on May 2, 2013, he was born in Martinsville to Ray & Lena (Morrow) Phillips on December 30, 1964.
Survivors include his father and step-mother Rev. Ray and Brenda Phillips of Mitchell; sisters Carolyn Ice of Marysville, Kansas, Linda Simpson of Birdseye, Abby Eggers of Bedford, Melissa Phillips of Mitchell; brother Wayne Kidd of Bedford; step-brothers Christian Simmons of Mitchell, Jason Simmons of Mitchell; several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his mother Lena M. (Morrow) Phillips on December 8, 2008, his grandparents; Sherman and Elsey Morrow, Owen and Lela Phillips, brother in infancy; Sherman Phillips
Cremation was chosen. His remains were buried on September 14, 2013 at Springville West
Cemetery.
