Leonard Altman Hall – Bedford
Leonard Altman Hall, 87, of Fayetteville, entered heaven on Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
He was born in Lawrence Co., Indiana on January 19, 1925, the son of Claude and Arless Hall. He was married to Anna Thompson, who preceded him in death. He later married Anah Williams.
He was enlisted in the United States Navy for a short time, but received an honorable discharge due to medical reasons. He was a 1943 graduate of Williams High School, and a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church. He was previously a member of the Englewood Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir and served as a deacon.
On October 16, 1998, on the 50th anniversary of WBIW Radio Station, Leonard, at the age of seventy-three, was recognized as having helped organize, and sang with the Radio Farm Boys, a WBIW country music group. He also played the mandolin and had played back-up with the Little Jimmy Dickens Band at Little Nashville Opry.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Anah Williams Hall, are three daughters, Gayla Davis of Greenwood, IN, Kathy Wade of Bedford and Lenya Hall of Bloomington. Also surviving are three grandchildren. Also surviving are three step-children, Cheryl Bolton, Leasa Hall and
Dennis Williams, all of Fayetteville, together with six step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Katherine Russell of Terre Haute, IN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 3rd at the Silverville Missionary Baptist Cemetery with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating.
