The following obituaries were received for Monday –


Kerry Dale Meadows – Bedford
Kerry Dale Meadows, 60, of Bedford, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born September 4, 1952 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Jerry and Carolyn Meadows and they survive. He married Barbara Sue “Susie” Lealos on September 10, 1971 and she survives. He was a jouneyman lineman for Duke Energy and a member of IBEW 1393. He enjoyed making and playing guitars, woodworking, fishing and his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Susie, of Bedford; two daughters, Jeni McMillan and husband Lance, of Springville, Jama Branaman and husband Jeremy, of Bedford; grandchildren, Kealeigh and Kyle McMillan, Morgan, Mylee and Maddix Branaman; two sisters, Amy Sanderson and husband Mike, of Bloomington, Lisa Dodson and husband, mark, of Martinsville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Lealos.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 8th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Clarence Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Lowder Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October, 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Doris Jean Root – Bedford
Doris Jean Root, 84, of Bedford, passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born October 18, 1927 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Ernest R. and Fern (Fiscus) Landis. She married Edwin Crane, who preceded her in death. She then married Melvin K. Root on January 1, 1971 and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1996. She retired from Dunn Memorial Hospital, where she had worked for 15 years. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church; former member of M.N.I. Home Demonstration Club and County Extension Homemaker Chorus.
Survivors include her three children, Larry D. Crane and wife Kathy, of Bedford, Diane Guthrie and husband Marvin, of Shoals, Linda Klinedinst and husband Lee, of Grovertown; three stepdaughters, Betty Deckard and Diane Johnson, both of Evansville, four grandchildren, one great grandson; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; one brother, William Landis, of Greenfield; three sisters, Ella Rose Bredeweg, of Linton, Martha King, of Indianapolis and Carol Sparks, of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one brother, one sister and one half sister, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be on Monday, October 8th at 11 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Kenny Dalton and Pastor Dave Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
