David L. Harris – Loogootee
David L. Harris, 70, of Loogootee, passed away at 6:10 a.m. July 9, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 9, 1942 in Washington to Otto and Agnes (Rodgers) Harris. He married Donna Kaye Spradlin, of Lynnville, on December 31, 1967.
He was a 1960 graduate of Loogootee High School and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University receiving a degree in secondary education and administration. He was a teacher and administrator in Illinois for several years. He was a retired businessman who owned the former Midwest Printing Company and WKMD radio station. He also served two terms on the Loogootee school board. He was an avid fan of Loogootee High School sports and Indiana University basketball. He enjoyed spending time walking his grand dog, Bogey and traveling to California to visit his daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Kaye (Spradlin); three daughters, Michelle and husband Jeff Fee, of Greenwood, Kimberly Harris, of Redlands, CA. and Kindra Harris, of Redlands, CA.; two sisters, Carolyn and husband James Waller, of Evansville; Joann and husband Tony Nonte, of Washington; one brother, James Harris, of Port St. Lucie, FL.; an aunt, Wava Riester, of Washington.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 12th at the Lee Funeral Home in Loogootee. A private burial will be held at a later date at Bethany Cemetery.
Louise “Toots” VanMeter – Mitchell
Louise “Toots” VanMeter, 85, passed away at 4 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born September 16, 1926, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Washington “Red” Bertram and Lula Mae (Houchin) Grogan. “Toots” was a homemaker and a member of the Bride of Christ Fellowship.
Survivors include her sons, sons, Roger and wife Judy VanMeter, of Richardson, Texas,
Jimmy VanMeter, of Mitchell; daughters, Jane Roof, of Louisville; Gayle and husband Douglas Strange, of Loogootee, Rita Smith, of Mitchell; grandchildren, Douglas D. Roof, Mark C. Smith, Stephanie Toy, Jennifer Louise VanMeter; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Billy Ray Bertram, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Kenny Bertram, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Joey Bertram, of Leitchfield, Kentucky, Linda Malek, of Hendersonville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Julie VanMeter; and great granddaughter, infant Nicole Brooke Smith.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Mitchell Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Allen officiating.

Virginia Rose Rowe – Mitchell
Virginia Rose Rowe, 89, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 30, 1922, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Ralph and Omia (Mitchell) Alexander.
Virginia was secretary and treasurer for the Rowe Evangelistic Ministries and Radio Voice of Jesus Corp.-Non Profit since 1978. She traveled with the ministry to Australia, Tonga Islands, Pacific, and England. Virginia would teach women’s groups during the revivals conducted by her husband throughout the 43 states since 1980. She was affiliated with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel in Los Angeles, California, where her husband was ordained. Virginia received the Lord Jesus at the early age of eight and later received the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
She married M. L. Jack Rowe September 2, 1958, in Long Beach, Rev. Rowe, missionary evangelist, hosts the Pathway of Life program over Salem, Indiana, WSLM and WHAN Channel 17 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30 a.m.
She is loved and survived by her husband, M. L. Jack Rowe, of Mitchell; daughter, Shirley Mitchell, of Augusta, Georgia; son, Darryl Rowe, of Campbellsburg; sisters, Helen Kern, of Bedford, Alice Jones, of Linton, Rhea Foster, of Bedford; sister in law, Doris Alexander, of Bedford; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 7 nieces; 6 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Kenneth Booker, Robert Booker, and an infant son; sister, Betty Pace Clark; and brother, Everett Alexander.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Russell and Dessie Seibert of Leitchfield, Kentucky, and Rev. Ronnie and Rita Roberts of Providence, Kentucky officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
