Emery Wayne Hancock – Bedford
Emery Wayne Hancock, 83, of Bedford, passed away at 6:22 a.m. on Tuesday, May 01, 2012 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born June 9, 1928 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Emery T. and Minnie M (Galimore) Hancock. He married Nancy Harrison in 1950 and she survives. He was a graduate of Bedford High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was the owner of Bedford Pawn and of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed bowling and carpenter work.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of Bedford; one daughter, Anita Neeley and husband Mike, of Bloomington; two sons, Joseph Hancock, of Indianapolis and Butch Hancock and wife Janis, of Ninevah; 8 grandchildren, Jeremiah Hancock, Jeff Hancock and wife, Jamie, of Mitchell, Branan Neeley and wife Michelle, Eric, Samantha and Matthew Neeley, all of Bloomington, Cory and Ben Hancock, of Ninevah; five great grandchildren, Lynndsey Hancock, Addie, Kenzie, Blake and Zee Neeley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Danny Hancock, three brother, Stanley M. and Loren Hancock and Ernie Mitchell.
Graveside services will be at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, May 4th in the Beech Grover Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post 33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday at Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Englewood Baptist Church.

Denise Rhea Kent – Bedford

Denise Rhea Kent, 50, of Bedford, passed away at 6:17 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 15, 1961, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Richard and Delores (Baker) Collwell. She married Robert Kent and he survives. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robert, of Bedford; a sister, Debbie Gilbreth; two brothers, Dennis and Dough Collwell; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Diane Stout.
Graveside services will be at 11 p.m. on Friday, May 4th at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Chris Perry officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Gordon Webb – Bedford

Gordon Webb, 90, of Bedford, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born March, 21, 1922 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Hobert and Pearl (Baker) Webb. He married Yvonne Hamman on March 3, 1945 in Cardiff South Wales, Great Brittan and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2006. He was a veteran of the US Arm serving during WWII. He was employed as a service manager at Chase Chevrolet for several years and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny Sowders and husband Lovell Jr., of Bedford; a son, Brian Webb and wife Jill, of Mitchell; grandchildren, Michelle Zenow and husband Keith, of Bedford, Gretchen Gebhard, of Carmel, Kyle Smith and wife Amy, of Williams, Chad Smith and wife Missy, of Greenwood, Jeanna Small and husband Corey, of Indianapolis; great grand children, Zachary and Nicholas Haltom, Hannah, Cameron, Dylan and Alex Smith, Myrah, Jack and Meredith Small.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, William, Frederick and Vivan Webb; sisters, Barbara Baker, Margerie Warner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Father Charlie Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery in Silverville. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, at Day & Carter Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the White River Humane Society.

Vertis Donald Hall – Mitchell

Vertis Donald Hall, 87, of Mitchell, passed away at 5:34 p.m.Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at his home.
Born May 24, 1924, in Mitchell, he was the son of John and Blanche (Enochs) Hall. He married Viola June Blackerby October 19, 1946. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the 12th Amphibious Landing Craft Division, which was in charge of landing tanks on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Vertis was a member of American Legion Post No. 250. He was a founder and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and was instrumental in the construction of the building. He retired from GM Powertrain and was a member of UAW Local 440. Vertis was a former deacon and member of Gibsonton Baptist Church in Gibsonton, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, June Hall, of Mitchell; children, Judy Lynn and husband Mark Hitchcock, of Mitchell; Donald and wife Barbara Hall, of Mitchell, Myra Cagle, of Bedford,
Tess and husband Dan LaLoggia Hall, of Louisville, Kentucky, Scott Hall, of Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; brother, Delmont Hall, Bradenton, of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Morris Lee Hall; brothers, Robert Hall and Lloyd Hall; and sister, Loretta Arnold.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Mac Clements officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 12:30 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
