The following obituaries were received for Monday –


Janice M. Newell – Bedford
Janice M. Newell, 70, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 22 in Martin County she was the daughter of Merle and Lela (Taylor) Prince. Janice married Harold Newell on September 14, 1966 and he survives. She retired from the deli department at Jay C Plus after working there for 13 years. She was a member of the New Union Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Harold, of Bedford; one daughter, Jan M. Newell, of Bedford; one brother Darrell Prince and wife Brenda, of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the New Union Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

George D. Saunders – Springville
George D. Saunders, 92, of Springville, passed away at 8:16 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born June 20, 1919 in Daviess County, he was the son of George Thomas and Pearl (Montgomery) Saunders.
He married Norma Hamilton on November 20, 1940 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1985.
He was an electrician and retired in 1987. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WW II and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry and wife Robin Saunders, of Springville; Randy and wife April Saunders, of Oolitic; one daughter, Vicki Saunders and her companion Phil Fletcher, of Mitchell; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Lester and wife Ann Saunders, of Springville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Norma; one son, Ronald Saunders; one grandson Rocky Saunders and one sister Eugenia Hamilton.
Visitation will be at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Private graveside services will be in Owensburg Cemetery.
