John Baker, 95, Bedford

John H. Baker of Bedford passed away Monday evening, March 22nd at Stonebridge Health Campus at the age of 95.


Born in 1914 in Lawrence County to parents Lafe and Oma (Higgins) Baker, he had been married to Martha Hackler since 1933.
John was retired as the Street Commissioner for the city of Bedford, retired from the maintenance department at BNL in 1976 and was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy and was of Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Delores Jane Mitchell and Carol McCullough; one brother, Roy Baker; as well as several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers; three sisters; one daughter, Ethel Naomi Waggoner; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 25th at 3:00PM at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with burial to follow.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM until 2:30PM on Thursday, March 25th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
