James Walter Kern of Bedford passed away Friday morning at Dunn Memorial Hospital at the age of 49.
Born in 1960 in Bloomington to parents Harold Walter Kern and Margaret (Davis) Kern, he had been married to Shelly Bex since 2009, was an electrician with Indiana University for 25 years, was an active member of St. Johns Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Jacob Kern; one daughter, Kristen Kern; three step-children, William, Kayla and Kayol Silcott; his mother; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 3rd at 4:00PM at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday, March 2nd at Ferguson – Lee Funeral Home.
