Lucille Burgess of Mitchell passed away Monday afternoon, February 8th at Garden Villa at the age of 96.
Born in 1913 in Crawford County to parents Ed and Agnes (Roberson) Velecin, she had been married to Marrill Charles Burgess since 1934.
Lucille was a graduate of Orleans High School in the class of 1930 and attended business college in Denver, Colorado.
She was a homemaker, worked at Mitchell’s Riley School and Bell’s Mendit Shop, was a member of the First Christian Church, Fleur-de-Lis and served as a Girl Scout leader.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Edwin Burgess and his wife Ann; William E. Burgess and his wife Marie; two daughters, Barbara Ann Sorrells and her husband Dr. George, Marilyn Jean Sadek and her husband Jerry; as well as one sister, Ruth Stalcup.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Mildred Kowalczyk and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 10:30AM in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mitchell Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday and from 9:30AM until the hour of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
