Laura Eleanor Pierce of Mitchell, formerly of Washington, passed away Monday morning, January 25th at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 91.
Born in 1918 in Daviess County to parents, James Everett and Gertrude Blanche (Lee) Hays, she had been married to Robert C. Herndon since 1939 and to Roger W. Pierce since 1958.
Laura was a homemaker and a member on the First Christian Church, was a graduate of Washington High School in the class of 1939 and had assisted her father in the management of the Arlington Hotel.
She is survived by one daughter, Roberta S. Byrd and her husband Ron; one son, David Herndon and his wife, Sharon; stepchildren, Douglas Pierce, Karen Hill, James Pierce as well as several grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sisters, Louise Moore, Cleo Sellman and Ruth Jones as well as one brother, Clarence Hays.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28th at 1:00PM in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mitchell Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11:00AM on Thursday at the funeral home.
