Elmer Worley, 83, Mitchell

Elmer William Worley of Mitchell, known to friends as Tony, passed away Thursday morning, December 14th at his residence at the age of 83.


Born in 1926 in Quinton, Kentucky and was raised by Frank and Ethel Sullivan, Elmer had been married to Evelyn Maxine Blackberby since 1947.
He was retired from General Motors after 34 years of service and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Jan (Jerry) Fortner, Deborah DeLong, Wynola “Odie” Taylor and Rhonda (Tom) Harrell; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Sullivan and Denver Sullivan; as well as one son-in-law, Pete Tardiff.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 17th at 1:30PM in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial to follow with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 9107.
Visitation will be from 3:00PM until 7:00PM on Saturday, January 16th and from noon until the hour of service on Sunday at the funeral home.
