Helen Woodward, 85, Bedford

Helen M. Woodward of Bedford passed away Sunday morning, January 3rd at Westview Manor Nursing Home at the age of 85.


Born in 1924 in Lawrence County to parents Earl and Verna (Barriger) Southern, she had been married to Jesse T. Woodward since 1942, was a homemaker, a graduate of Needmore High School in the class of 1942, was a member of Dive Christian Church and VFW Post #1686 of Oolitic.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Gugin and her husband Clifford, Beverly Grogan and her husband Dennis; one son, Greg Woodward and his wife Doris; three grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Larry Phemister and his wife Joane and one sister, Marla Rae.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Hayes, Ruth Jackson and Jackie Eaves and two brothers, Morris Southern and Bob Phemister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at 1:00PM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in Mt. Pleasant Christian Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday, January 5th and from 11:00AM until the hour of service on Wednesday January 6th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
