George McDermed of Bedford passed away Friday at his home at the age of 76.
Born in 1932 in Lawrence County to Lawrence and Pansy McDermed, George was a retired engineering model maker for Westinghouse/ABB in Bloomington, Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and member of Hillcrest Christian Church, American Legion Gillen Post 33, and Westinghouse/ABB Veterans Association.
He is survived by his son Larry, daughter Sherri, sister JoAnn, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, and sisters Maxine, Betty and Rosalie.
Services will be held tomorrow morning at 11:00am at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00pm tonight at Day & Carter.
