Dale R. Underwood of Bedford, passed away Saturday morning 3/21/09 at Stonebridge Health Campus at the age of 88.
Born in 1920 in Lawrence County to parents Alfred E. and Ruth (Panza) Underwood, Dale was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII with the 65th combat infantry division.
He was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Nights Of Columbus, and the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
Dale worked at Central Foundry in Plant Protection until his retirement in 1980.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Lorna June, one daughter Donna and her husband Don, three sons: Dale and his wife Camille, Jon and his wife Barbara, and Denny and his wife Melinda.
He is also survived by his two sisters: Donna and Sarah, and one brother Don, as well as 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Tom, two sisters: Norma Jean and Evelyn, as well as one brother Walter “Ike”.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 24th at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. with burial to follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday, March 23rd from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Day & Carter Mortuary.
A rosary service will be conducted Monday, March 23rd at 7:30 A.M.
