Hobert Dewey Thompson, 88, Springville

Hobert Dewey Thompson of Springville passed away Wednesday evening at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford at the age of 88.


Born in 1920 in Wayne County, Kentucky to Rathaniel and Vangie Thompson, Hobert was a retiree of RCA in Bloomington, Army veteran of World War II, member of Free Methodist Church, past president of the Springville Cemetery Board, director for both REMC and Hoosier Energy, Boy Scout leader, Perry Township trustee, and served on boards for the Springville Feeder Auction, North Lawrence Water Corporation, Lawrence County Cattleman’s Association, and Perry Township Advisory Board.
He is survived by his wife Nova, son Ronald, daughters Marilyn and Carolyn, brothers Dallas, Charles and Don, sisters Pauline, Martha and Jeana, 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Delmar, Roy, Freddie and Junior.
Services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00am at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Springville West Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00pm tomorrow at Day & Carter.
