Abraham “Abe” Amstutz, 90, Williams

Abraham Amstutz of Williams, known to friends and family as “Abe,” passed away Sunday night at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford at the age of 90.


Born in 1918 in Jennings County to Christian and Ruth Amstutz, Abe was a retiree of GM in Indianapolis, diamond sawyer and night watchman at Indiana Limestone, owned the Abe and Sons Bait Shop in Williams, transported tanks for Manchester Tank, was an Army veteran of World War II and the D-Day invasion, and member of the First Baptist Church in Williams.
He is survived by his daughters Brenda, Pamela and Cindy, sons Christopher, Dennis and Mike, family friend Ronnie, 15 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jenny, brothers John and Frank, sisters Mary, Alice and Emma, and one great grandson.
Services will be held Friday morning at 11:00am at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Williams.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 8:00pm tomorrow at Day & Carter.
