Richard Chapman Dickerson passed away Friday in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 99.
Born in 1909 to William and Lucy Dickerson, Richard was a long-time resident of Rush and Hancock Counties, moving to Lawrence County and then Florida, was an active member of the Christian Church, and retiree of GM’s Allison Division.
He is survived by his wife Clara, daughter Jean, son Thomas, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gayle, and sons Richard and Donald.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow morning at 11:00am at Leatherwood Cemetery in Bedford with burial to follow.
No visitation is scheduled.
