Bert Lewis of Bedford passed away Monday morning at Bedford Regional Medical Center at the age of 91.
Born in 1916 in Martin County to William and Anna Lewis, Bert was a retired welder from GM, farmer in Martin County, Army veteran of World War II, and member of American Legion Gillen Post 33, and Free Methodist Church in Bedford.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ruth, daughter Peggy, 1 foster daughter, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Billy Ray, brothers John, and Rex, and sisters Inez and Lillian.
Services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00pm at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 2:00 until 9:00pm and again tomorrow from 1:00 until time of service at Day & Carter.
