Willard Sanderson of Mitchell, known to friends and family as “Ed,” passed away Monday afternoon at his home at the age of 69.
Born in 1938 in Beulaville, North Carolina to Levi and Nara Sanderson, Ed was a veteran of the US Air Force and former member of American Legion Cecil Martin Post 250 in Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife Violet, son Steven, daughters Janet and Cyndi, step-daughter Meloni, brother Kenneth, sisters Peggy and Elma, 6 grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Norwood Sr. and Homer and 2 sons in infancy.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 at Mitchell Cemetery with burial to follow.
Visitation will be tomorrow morning from 10:30 until 12:30 at Day & Carter Mortuary.
