James P. Jones of Mitchell passed away early Monday morning at Dunn Memorial Hospital at the age of 82.
Born in 1925 in Martin County to John and Sara Jones, James worked at NSWC Crane, was a self-employed carpenter, life member of the Mitchell VFW and veteran of the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, daughters Marcia, Paula and Brenda, brother Dennis, sisters Irene, Clara and Hazel, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Larry, sisters Rosie and Blanch and brother Raleigh.
Services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00am at Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals with burial to follow at Hickory Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be tomorrow evening from 4:00 until 8:00pm at Queen-Lee.
