Oolitic Deputy Marshals sworn in during special town meeting January 6th

OOLITIC – The Town of Oolitic held a special meeting Thursday, January 6th for the purposes of hiring and swearing in the new Deputy Town Marshals Michael Bargo and Gregory Hagan.

The two men will help to solidify the Police Department of Oolitic as a fully staffed organization, and will serve the town on a part-time basis.

Gregory Hagan retired as a member of the Bedford Police Department on September 14, 2018, after 20 years of service as an officer with the department. Prior to his BPD career Hagan served with the Lawrence County Sheriff Department. Hagan grew up in Oolitic and is excited to be able to help give back to the community that means so much to him.

“Being able to come back here to Oolitic and give back to the community that I grew up in will be a fun opportunity for me,” said Hagan.

Michael Bargo also serves as a City of Mitchell Police Officer and will bring his expertise and knowledge of the law to Oolitic to help aid Hagan and Town Marshal James Harrington in keeping the town safe for community members and everyone who comes through.

The town council praised both Hagan and Bargo and feel assured knowing that the town has a fully functional police department once again.

The two men were brought in to serve the community, following the retirement of Marshal Jon Jeffries back in December of 2021.
