INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana State Fair,scheduled for July 30-August 22 (CLOSED Mondays and Tuesdays), will host the inaugural Deep Fry Dash for Damar presented by Meridian Health Services, a 5K and one-mile fun run through the Indiana State Fairgrounds on the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 4.
Open to runners and walkers of all ages, the event will benefit two great causes: Damar Services, which cares for children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism, and the Indiana State Fair Foundation, which raises funds to support year-around agriculture education, youth development and campus stewardship efforts of the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center.
“For thousands of remarkable Hoosier families who live with autism, every day can be like a race,” said Dr. Jim Dalton, president and CEO of Damar Services. “They endure challenges, persevere through difficulty and celebrate wonderful successes. We’re delighted to partner with the Great Indiana State Fair in an event that draws attention to those families’ challenges and celebrates their achievements.”
Prizes will be awarded for the individual who best demonstrates the 2021 Indiana State Fair theme – Celebrating the Hoosier Spirit – as well as the participant with the best Indiana State Fair food-themed costume.
The event is presented by Meridian Health Services. Finish line sponsors are Resultant and PNC. Pace setter sponsors are Pharmaneek, CLA, ALO Property Group and Sharp Business Systems. In-kind sponsor is Prairie Farms.
Aug. 1 will be Damar Sensory Day at the Fair.

Entry fee includes Indiana State Fair admission, T-shirt, free fair food treats after the race, a finisher ribbon and a post-race party.
